DIY: redesigned pinata

We're having an Iron Man themed party for Greg's 3rd birthday. I have been looking for an Iron Man pinata for weeks. Looked everywhere. No luck. On line, yes. But you have to pay almost double, due to shipping.

Not happening.

So I decided I would make one {well sorta}. I wasn't about to attempt to really make a pinata. I've seen it done and it never looked nice. But I did think I could redesign one. My original plan was to print some images I found of Iron Man, but then we saw "Iron Man" at K-mart{they had a guy dressed up in a costume} and were handing out movie posters.

I had called the store asking if they had Iron Man pinatas. The lady said they didn't, but that Iron Man was THERE! I asked her what she meant. haha

Anyway, Bobby and I were so excited. {we get excited about silly stuff, especially if we think our kids are going to be thrilled} Another big reason we were excited is that Bobby got his pic taken a few times with a "K-mart Spider man" when he was a kid and the kids have one of those framed in their room. We didn't tell them, in case they were going to be scared. Sure enough they were not about to have their pic taken...they seemed very scared. We were somewhat disappointed.

But they did agree to take one with us...so here is our family Iron Man K-mart
pic. haha

Back to my pinata redesign...

So I ended up using one of the movie posters I got that day.

I'm very happy with the end result!!! More importantly,Gregory loves it!!!

I just got a cheap $10 power rangers pinata {who has a power ranger's party these days?} no offense to those of you that love power rangers, but seriously?

Check out my little iron man! He is having so much fun in that mask. We got him the costume. Guess I have one Halloween costume down!

DIY: redesigned pinata

Took off the images and used them as a pattern to cut out my poster. I used packing tape {folded over} on the back to stick the image to the pinata, since I was afraid the glue I had would bleed through. But on the one side I had to puzzle the pieces on, I ended up using decoupage glue over the whole side. It made any pieces that were sticking up to lay down flat.

I think it turned out great!

So next time you can't find your themed pinata...maybe you can do this too!

I love it!! Great job, B! And the picture is so cute-I love Greg's face :-) I hope he has a great time at his party! We're sending a package-it probably won't get there for the party-we had seriously severe weather most of today, so I didn't make it to the post office, but it should be there by Mon. Love you guys! D
