Well, it has been a wonderful three years and we are amazed everyday by this little blessing that God has entrusted us with. We are always praying that God will lead us on how to raise him and that we will be a blessing to him, as he is to us. We look forward to seeing him turn into the man of God that he was created to be.
I have been wanting to blog about my birth experiences for a while, but I tend to be a somewhat private person...yeah I know, a private person with a blog, go figure.
I still have mixed feelings about blogs. I want to share my thoughts and experiences, but I don't want to give TMI...You really don't want to know all the details of my life. I am a normal person, who has many flaws and has made many mistakes. I credit all the joy in my life as a gift from my heavenly father. Without Him I would be living a life without joy, without peace and without hope.
I don't deserve any of the blessings in my life, but it's by the grace of God that I have ANY of them. I say all of that, so you know I'm not trying to flaunt my life or try to imply that any of the good in my life was earned.
Gregory Isaac was an answer to prayer and definitely a miracle baby.
I had a very text book pregnancy. Taught yoga four days a week, felt as great as any pregnant lady. Went into labor on my own, on his due date. Progressed somewhat normal for me...I'm a long laborer.
But then we noticed Greg wasn't descending. He just wouldn't drop. I was in a birthing center, so I had lots of freedom to change positions. Which if I had been at a hospital, they most likely would have done a C-section. With much prayer, many different positions and finally two obstetrical procedures, Gregory was finally born!
The two procedures were:
The Gaskin maneuver -named after Certified Professional Midwife, Ina May Gaskin. Involves moving the mother to an all fours position with the back arched, widening the pelvic outlet.
Suprapubic pressure - using a closed fist over the laboring Mom's pubic bone, pushing in an inward and downward motion to allow the baby's shoulder to go under the pubic bone and deliver pressure on the anterior shoulder, which brings the fetus in an oblique position {basically a punch in the gut}...not fun, but it saved Greg's life.

I am very grateful to the Lord, my support team {my husband, my sister, my mom, my mama in law and a good friend, all of which were there with me, praying for me}and for the knowledgeable midwife and nurse practitioner assisting Greg's birth. He had a rough time, but was in perfect health! Other than some seasonal allergies after he turned one, which led to the occasional need for a nebulizer, he has been a healthy little boy! Born 9lbs 14 ounces!!!!

I'm sure you noticed his "bruise". Well, it wasn't a bruise. We all thought it was, but it was in fact a birthmark. It's faded so much and will most likely disappear before he starts Kindergarten.

Here is our little miracle at 3!!!

He is full of energy, handsome as his daddy, loves his parents so much(he comes to our bed every morning and gets in between us and puts an arm around both of us. Loves playing with his sissy! Loves to wrestle all the time. He's all boy! Loves camping, super heroes, fishing, all kinds of weapons, Bear Grylls, cars and his cat, Geoffrey.;)
We are blessed! Happy birthday to the sweetest Gregory Isaac in the world!
I would like to blog about Gwyneth's birth in the next few weeks. Her labor was very much like Greg's, long, intense, natural, but second stage was very different than Greg's...much smaller little girl.
I am getting ready to do it again in the next couple months...which are of course dragging along. But I am going into this labor, knowing that each pregnancy is different, as each birth is different. I can only prepare and plan, to a degree. I'm leaving the details to God. He helped me twice, I KNOW HE will be with me again!
XO
