Forced Hydration

It's an old Army tradition...My husband has told me stories of "forced hydration formations". It's where the drill sergeants would make all the soldiers drink water until their canteen's were empty.

Many of us don't drink enough water. I have been guilty of this before, but the last few years I have gotten into the habit of "self forced hydration". I drink water all day long and when I have absolutely no sign of thirst. Because thirst is the most obvious sign that you're already dehydrated. I make myself take several gulps...sometimes over 10 gulps at one time.

I found a good web-site listing all the benefits of drinking water. If you are interested click HERE. It's really amazing how much we need water!

That's my huge water bottle! It's as tall as a gallon of milk. I carry it everywhere. Not sure how many ounces it is...it's BPA free and has a freezer insert to keep the water cold, but I rarely use it. I drink it room temperature.  I like the size of it because I normally had to refill my nalgene bottle several times a day and would run out while I was away from the house. Since I'm breastfeeding I have to drink A LOT...otherwise Gibson won't have enough milk. So it's even more important these days that I hydrate.

I guess that's why I thought of this blog post.

Hope it's gotten some of you thinking and you start your forced hydrating as soon as possible!

Feel better today!

I need to be better about this. I don't drink enough water and I am breastfeeding. Where did you get this water bottle. I like it and the fact it has a freezer insert. My water has to be cold.

I got it at Safeway at the beginning of the summer. Sometimes they have summer stuff on sale now...you might find it. I only use the freezer insert if I'm going to be out in the heat. I gulp and if it's cold I'll get a brain freeze. haha
