A friend of mine blessed us with an awesome bunk bed. It's solid wood and in great shape! But there wasn't a ladder. Growing up, the bunk beds we had just had some sort of ladder on the bed itself. This one didn't, plus it had this high rail all around the top bunk so there would be no way for Gwyneth to climb it...I was very happy for the railing as far as safety goes once she is up there, but getting up there was a problemo.
After looking on line for a ladder and not having any luck, my husband decided to build one! Bobby's been known for his occasional carpentry. His grandpa was a carpenter so it must be in his blood. I will admit, I was skeptical at first. I guess I thought it might take him a longtime, but it didn't. He was done with it by the next day.
This all happened the weekend we had the blizzard here on the east coast. So we bundled up and headed to Lowe's in the snow. It was the first day of snow, so not much had fallen yet. We purchased the supplies and Daddy got to work on the ladder as soon as we got home.
The kids were so happy! I was very impressed. It's a great ladder! Safe and not bad looking at all. He may stain it later, but there isn't a big need for it. He sanded it so it's soft and I'm not worried about the kids getting splinters. Greg even climbs it and has no trouble...well, he still can't climb down. So he has to ask permission to climb up.

As you can see Daddy gave Gregory an Army blanket to use as a "tent", he loves it!!!!! It definitely helps with toning down the girlie-ness!
Oh and I was in need of a large dresser for the kids and low and behold...Craigslist! Found this awesome solid wood dresser, mirror, and nightstand...all for $50! I had to ask the guy when I called if it was in fact just $50...I couldn't be happier. It even matched the bed!

So now our big kids are set and we will start the nursery in a month or so. We find out the sex the beginning of March! I'm already planning to do shades of white. Then a huge painting with some color...so the sex won't really make a difference in the room. Can't wait to get started on the nursery! Here is a picture of a nursery I like...

Of course ours won't be as nice, but you get the idea;)I loved making the nursery for both of our kiddos and am really looking forward to making one for this baby:)
XO
