Greg's Chocolate popcorn

Homemade chocolate popcorn! Greg's idea...:)

Costco is amazing. But my hubby and I can get in trouble there sometimes. Like the night he brought home a huge canister of chocolate lovers poppycock. Yeah, like that night. Let's just say the kids blame us for eating it all.

That was a month ago, at least.  But my Greg must be a little sore about it still. Yesterday he goes, "I wish we still had chocolate popcorn, mom"..."but you guys had to eat it all"(mind you we're not buying it again.Well, maybe.;) Once was enough. It was THAT good a mistake...I am a huge popcorn lover! It's kind of sickening how much I love popcorn. That and chips and salsa. But anyway.

After he gave me a hard time for eating all of the chocolate popcorn, he got a bright idea..."mom, we can make some" I thought for a minute...running through the ingredients in my pantry, then said "okay, we can"(I remembered I had almond bark);) He got excited! So we made some...Not as good as the poppycock. I love saying that word---- but still worth making again! Project with the kids and only one serving of chocolate popcorn vs. a HUGE CANISTER hubby and I will eat over ONE weekend. win win! Not healthy but maybe a little healthier:)

What you need:

microwave popcorn
wax paper
3 squares of chocolate almond bark (I get mine at Wal-mart)
microwavable plastic bowl (to melt the almond bark)
plastic spoon
chopped almonds

Directions:

make microwave popcorn
shake popcorn out on long sheet of wax paper, getting rid of un-popped corn)
melt chocolate in microwave for 30sec at a time, stirring in between.
Add chopped nuts to chocolate and stir.
drizzle  the choc/almond mixture (as best as you can) evenly over the popcorn
Let cool/harden for 20min
transfer to big bowl, breaking up large pieces.

Enjoy!
