Dearest G

My baby G has sure gotten big!

Sometimes I can barely remember... but I'm thankful for the amazing moments that are sketched in my mind forever, like...

when I saw you for the first time. Your cute little face in my arms in the hospital after we both went through hours and hours of labor and then to finally see you, hold you. I will never forget that little face. It blew my mind that I had you. You were finally here.  I had never been a mommy before. I had a lot to learn. Still do, so often does it seem.

G-yellow scarf

That was over eight years ago. You have changed so much. So have I. You no longer need me like you did then. You now do so many grown up things, like make your own breakfast and you're always ready for school before I even get up. As of lately you even bring my first cup of coffee to wake me in the morning. G, I am proud of you. You're an amazing artist. I never could draw like you do. You have already surpassed me in that way, and I hope you go above and beyond anything good that is in me.
Isn't that a Mother's dream? Her child be better than she? That's mine. For if you do, then I will truly know I have succeeded as your mommy.

G-scarf

Fun fact:

This 1978 Avon scarf was something I've cherished ever since I can remember. Not sure when I got it. But I've been holding onto it forever. In 2002, in Monterey I used it as a prop for a photoshoot of Gwyneth when she was only four months old. Fast forward to 2008...tied it on a purse for girl's night out with my bestie Holly.  Lost it while dancing:( Hubby took me back to see if it was in the lost and found at the restaurant. Nowhere to be found.
A month or so ago my best bud, Barbie took me to a new thrift store...she loved this particular store for the "scarf wall". Low and behold...the lost scarf (or a copy) either way, I was floored! Yay! thought I'd never see it again!
And... Last week my sis was in town visiting. I had to take her to the "scarf wall", of course. um, yep, she found another one of these scarves, one even in better shape. I may or may not have guilted her into giving it to me. Okay, I did. But mommy and G need to have matching scarves. Pic of this at a later time. :)

Oh and if you want one too. Get yours here:) We can all be matchy matchy.
