I have a desire to:
  • Manage my time better
  • Teach my children to manage their time
  • Learn/relearn scripture (let's face it, it was a longtime ago)
  • Help my kiddos learn scripture
  • Be consistent with discipline

I'm hoping these niffty little chalkboards will help me with my goals.
Since it's 1:30 am I feel that I am already failing.
But I wanted to share this DIY with all of you
And gosh darn it, this was the only time I had.
Enjoy.

Start out with something like this. Pretty, isn't it? Thrifted.

Lovely. Right? Lol...project:)

Do this to them:)

...in progress.:)

Then

Spray paint some foam poster board with "chalk" spray paint.
I went ahead and got the black poster board, thought it would make painting faster. It did.

Can you even guess? I'm thinking it will have to be a DIY-blog posts. Whenever that can happen;)

*The white thing under the black boards is some old bulletin board I have...not part of this project. Didn't want to confuse anyone.;)

The color cards are for discipline.
I borrowed the idea from the public school system:)

The kids start each day on "green".
Each time they don't listen or "forget" to obey, they have to move their card.
Each card has a disciplinary action.
From reminders, timeouts grounding and on.
You can make these fit your families plan for discipline, of course.

Greg had a pretty good day:) I was proud of him.

My little guy doing one of his chores:)

I needed something to help me be more consistent.
Plus, my daughter stays on "green" at school, maybe it will help her at home too.

I have to say, today was pretty good.
Notice Greg's card was moved from "green".
But he hated getting his card moved.
So maybe he'll have an even better day tomorrow.

Hope you found this helpful.
I'm off to wash my tired face.
night.

This is such a great idea!! I bet they really will stay motivated to behave so that they won't have to change colors!
