So the room! guitars, guitars, guitars! I'm sure some of you are curious as to why we chose a guitar theme. It's not very common, especially how we're not making it very babyish. I plan on the boys being in one room in a couple years and Gregory loves guitars anyway! So we can combine all the decor. I am just tired of baby colors and baby art.
Back to why guitars. Bobby's family is very musically talented. His Dad has been playing guitar since he was a teenager, maybe even before that. Bobby plays guitar, saxophone:), but really is an awesome drummer. His brother also plays guitar, very well. In fact, Bobby was in a band when we started dating...but he doesn't like to talk about that;)...he also had long hair...AND wore the "grunge look"...okay, I'll stop.:) That was one of the things that WON me over (not the grunge look)... But we'll save that for another blog. Maybe an anniversary blog.
HOLD ON...I have to go pop some tums! 35+ weeks preggo, ya know?
Back to the room. We knew we were going to do the guitar theme, but I still had little inspiration for the design.
Until, I saw a shirt like this one at my favorite thrift store for 50 cents!!!!
Yes, I find deals! So that is what's on the baby's guitar painting. Can you see it now? Kind of different...

I make my own canvases using old canvases I pick up from thrift stores. I cover them in fabric and then start making my "base", which is made up of recycled various types of mixed media, then I use a lot of deco glue to seal the painting.
In this painting's case the sealant really made the guitars pop! lots of color!
That painting is hanging above the baby's bed, along with the "pick" mobile above the crib. The inspiration for the mobile was just from looking on line at guitar center. I liked all the colorful picks!

My next wall I chose was above the changing table. I had seen some simple paintings of birds and other things in a magazine for a baby's room. Paintings that were just outlines. Simple. But drawing a guitar isn't simple for me. I am an artist, but not a great one. I can't really draw. I have lots of ideas and can make a nice "sofa painting" but drawing is not my strength. So I asked Bobby to help me make a stencil. He's great at those kind of things. Plus, he had a part in this design;)

The room is not finished yet. I still need a dust ruffle for the bed and some other various things. But it's coming together...
I'll take some pix of the finished room before too long. It's been very different this time around. With Gwyneth I had her room finished and ready months before my due date. With Gregory, pretty much the same thing. But man, with this one...I am running around here like a chicken with my head cut off. I sometimes lay down for a second and fall right asleep, but am awakened in less then 10 min by a bored 7 year old or a needy 3 year old. Bobby has been helping more and I have come up with a new laundry routine. I plan on sharing that soon. It's not anything big, but it's saving me headaches of laundry piles.
Have a great weekend! I know I will...some sweet friends are giving me a "belly blessing"(aka baby shower)!!! It's going to be fun! Just wish my sisters, moms, grandmas, aunts, cousins and nieces could make it! Still very Thankful.
I'll post pix...
XO
