I was introduced to the delicious "pierogie" sometime in 1994. Bobby's Grandma Nabolotnyj would make a huge batch of them and give a freezer size ziplock to all the kids when we visited her. I got the amazing opportunity to help her make them in 2003, about a year before she passed away. I will never forget that time in the kitchen with her. She made me do all of it, she said this way I would remember.
Normally pierogies are made with dough and potato/cheese filling. We would then cook them, either by boiling in water or frying in a skillet. Topping with sour cream. Yum!
My husband and his yummy ideas...he came up with this recipe a couple of months ago. I cannot share it without his permission;) I think he wants to keep it "in the family"...but I did want to post a picture and tell you how absolutely delicious they are. I believe Grandma Nabolotnyj would approve.
We're going to some friends house this weekend for Easter and I plan on making some chocolate pierogies to share.
oh and I posted a new listing on my Etsy this morning. I think they're lovely!
